I don't consider Webster street a good street for cyclists etween Highland Ave. and Great Plain. I prefer Manning St., just oneblock over. Anumber of years ago Manning was marked as a cycle route, and I use rather than Webster. There is much less traffic on Manning. Fair Oaks is also better than Webster. Also, West St. between Hillside is hardly bike friendly for the average cyclist.

Good comments - thanks. Webster's a little wider than Manning, but you're right that it's much busier. Also, perhaps Hunnewell would be the better route to connect Highland to Central. The map is a work in process - so we can try out alternatives for public opinion.

Hunnewell is ok, but when I go from Central Ave to Needham Heights I take Webster to Hillside To Hunnewell, that is when I'm comming from Newton Upper Falls. Wouldn't the railroad tracks from the Heights to Newton make nice bike/pedestrian trail?
